Anguish of a Father, only happens when we not just participate, but engage in that reality of the one essence we truly are and not just a role we play. There is the greatest joy, satisfaction and fulfillment, but also heartache, stress and pain in being an engaged father.

Incomplete, a reality, ‘til a father you become.
Elated by this child you create, the journey’s just begun.
Smiles, giggles. Spit up, diapers dirtied. Extravagant love required.
Boy or girl, they’re apart of you. Don’t know it yet, it’s how you’re wired.

Confirmation, a dad’s validation while embraced by little ones.
Ecstatic by love and life shared, watching your reflection, you’re on.
Playing catch or house, painting nails. climbing trees, a daddy you will be.
Boys will be boys and girls…girls. Even in your likeness, they grow independently.

Expectations take their toll, kids don’t always do as they are told.
Weary by ignoring your advice, temptations begin to take hold.
Lack of life, Youthful lusts, independence confronting rebellion.
The loved one being trained in living, stumble and fall in quicksand

Battles confront me! Don’t know if I can be that. It’s over my head to be a dad. But it’s who I am. I need help to Overcoming the battles I’m in. A father I will be. A father is who I am.

(Alcoholism, neglect, overworking, love of money, need for approval, pornography, social media, depression, divorce, drug addiction, debt, lust, idols, laziness, hopeless, love of self. ..Love of God, mercy, compassion, involvement, self sacrifice, tenderness, strength, gentleness, patience, time, hugs, self control, contentment, hope, confidence of being a father)

Dependence on God is our only hope, you have no say or control
What’s done is done and said has been spoken. Life lived, broken and whole.
There is glory and shame. Joy and sorrow within, like snow, love covers all sin.
So embrace the life you’ve been given, reflections of the interacting love of the Risen.
